Paddy Wheelan's, Riga

Paddy Whelan's is located in the historic center of Riga and has been one of the places where you can go for a typical Irish pub atmosphere since 1995 ☘️ It is called the first Irish pub in the Baltics. Inside, there is wooden furniture, a massive bar with a clock 🕰 hung with banknotes from all over the world 💸, leather benches, metal advertising signs or mirrors 🪞 The Irish menu includes Guinness, Kilkenny Red Ale and Magners cider 🍎, complemented by the English ale Old Speckled Hen. Overall, the menu at the taps is quite wide and consists of more than twenty local and international brands. You will certainly also choose from a wide range of bottles of whiskey 🥃 Beer and classic pub food 🍽 such as Irish Breakfast, Fish & Chips 🐟, Ribeye Steak 🥩 or burgers 🍔 can be found on the tables. On several screens 🖥 you can watch mainly sports. Football ⚽️, rugby 🏈, hockey 🏒 or formula 🏎 can turn a quiet evening into a really noisy social event during the broadcast. Sports broadcasts are one of the main reasons why Paddy Whelan's has gained a reputation as a popular sports bar. In the summer, you can also sit on the outdoor terrace. The overall relaxed atmosphere is also completed by rock music production 🔊
Victory Pub, Riga

In the historic center of Riga you will find Victory Pub, which is located in a building with a history dating back to 1698. The interior is based on the traditional pub atmosphere of British pubs. There is a wide selection of local and foreign beers on tap and in bottles 🍺, and there is also an Irish stout Guinness. However, that was all from the island beers and ciders 🍎. The offer of less than a dozen types of more common whiskeys 🥃 was also not very convincing. You can watch sports broadcasts 🖥 or play billiards 🎱, darts 🎯 and chess. Chess ♟️ is a slightly unusual specialty here, the establishment has its own chess room and supports the local chess community. However, the atmosphere of this pub did not appeal to me much, the bartender was not as friendly as I am used to from the islands, and what's more, they produced modern dance music here 🔊
